Building Surveyor

Quantum Survey & Project Management are seeking to recruit an experienced Building Surveyor and Contract Administrator with excellent Project Management skills.

We currently have projects throughout the M4 corridor, Midlands and South Wales. Ideally, we’re looking for someone based between South Gloucestershire – Birmingham to cover this area.

This exciting role requires someone with the ability to work efficiently on their own as it is home based but will involve regularly working with other team members across the country. Excellent communication skills are essential as meeting with an eclectic range of clients is a crucial aspect of the role.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director / Division Manager the key accountabilities of the role will include:

  • Undertaking site surveys of damaged buildings (Domestic, Commercial and Industrial). Recording all damage and defects and compilation of floor plans.
  • Carrying out inspections on social housing properties paying particular attention to causation behind damp, mould and condensation issues.
  • Compiling detailed schedule of works, including appropriate breakdowns and photographs.
  • Undertaking the role of Contract Administrator.
  • Liaising with clients, agents, consultants, loss adjusters throughout the pre & construction phase of the project, effectively project managing the rebuild / repairs process.
  • Complying and adhering to all set service levels and key performance indicators.
  • Assisting in the identification, submission and settlement of insurance claims under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
  • Evidencing and recording in support of any variations or unforeseen works items, including photographic if necessary.
  • Dealing with planning applications and advising on property legislation and current building regulations.
  • Valuing contractor’s work and variations on an interim basis and the issuing of the required Certification for Payments.
  • Compilation of Final Accounts – balancing all project costs.
  • Commercial administration skills leading to the successful and timely delivery of the particular scheme(s).

Experience/Qualifications:

Overall experience of managing construction projects between £50K – £2 million, including working with legal contracts such as the range of JCT contracts.

An understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 is essential for this role.

  • NVQ3 Construction Contracting Operations (Surveying)
  • MRICS / AssocRICS / MCIOB, MCABE or working towards
  • BSc(Hons) MSc Building Surveying/Construction Management or similar
  • A knowledge of insurance reinstatement projects would be desirable but not essential
  • Building Surveying experience of at least 2 years (required)
  • NEBOSH Health & Safety, or similar, would be desirable but is not essential
  • Experience with the HHSRS / Decent homes schemes would be desirable but is not essential
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel & Word / Office 365

Salary from £46,000 per year OTE with bonus £60,000 – £70,000

Graduate/Trainee Building Surveyor

Due to expanding workload we have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate / Trainee Building Surveyor to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a general practise for a focused, forward-thinking Graduate that will offer you an excellent experience to develop your career as a Building Surveyor and progress internally along with structured support on your APC.

We specialise in Surveying and Contract Administration within the Insurance Reinstatement industry. Repair / rebuild schemes to domestic / commercial / industrial structures following incidents of fire, flooding, impact etc

The Candidate:

  • RICS or CIOB accredited Building Surveying Degree or similar (required)
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel to various sites across the South and South Wales
  • Organised and methodical working approach
